House Charlotte Program
The House Charlotte program is a homeownership down payment assistance program that provides home buying education and financial assistance to prospective homebuyers. On average, buyers can expect to receive financial assistance of $7,500 and in certain cases, as much as $10,000 towards the purchase of a home. There is an additional incentive of up to $15,000 for police officers. Also, The North Carolina Bond Program, which is another down payment assistance program, that can provide between $4,000 and $14,900 in down payment assistance funds to first time buyers.
Here are the eligibility requirements of the House Charlotte Program:

Families must have 110% or less of the local median income ($51,200 - $96,550, depending on family size).

Homebuyers must complete eight hours of homebuyer education.

The home must be used as the family's primary residence.

The home must be located in one of 87 designated neighborhoods throughout Charlotte.

The purchase price of the home cannot exceed $147,000.

Funds are provided thru a 10 year deferred and forgivable loan.
 Along with Down Payment Assistance, Funds through this program may be used for, closing costs, credit repair and or counseling, interest rate buy down or up to $3000 of the funds can be used for medical hardship to pay off medical bills on your credit report.
