When you consoder purchasing a home in the Greater Charlotte area, one large expense to consider is the property tax. Both North Carolina and South Carolina handle property tax values in a similar way. Both states reevalute all homes at regular intervals, usually 4-8 years, but this may vary. What this means to you is that when your house is reassessed so is the entire area. There will not be a disparity within the same area so the system is fair. Also, tax value and market value are not the same, just because a home is assessed at a certain price, it does not mean that the home is "worth" that assessed figure. I recommend visiting the individual counties websites for property tax. This will provide the most accurate and non-biased information.
